On exhibit now through Feb. 1st, grab a glass of wine and enjoy downtown Galveston during Galveston Art week and Restaurant week.
My collection, "Pearls of the Gulf," is a celebration of the timeless beauty and cultural significance of oysters and pearls, particularly those harvested from the rich waters of the Gulf of Mexico. This series of headpieces draws inspiration from the age-old tradition of an oyster party, a communal gathering where families and friends come together to harvest these marine treasures.
The saying "no grit, no pearl" encapsulates the journey from raw oyster to the exquisite party or lustrous gem. It's a metaphor for life's challenges, reminding us that adversity can often lead to extraordinary beauty. This collection pays homage to this process, transforming the humble oyster into opulent adornments. Nearly 45% of the country's oysters originate from the Gulf Coast.
Influenced by the glamour of Old Hollywood, these headpieces are designed to evoke a sense of timeless elegance. They are perfect for celebrating Mardi Gras in style, adding a touch of coastal chic to any festive occasion. By combining traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design, I aim to create pieces that are both stunning and meaningful, honoring the rich heritage of the Gulf Coast.
