Megan Maberry is best known for her whimsical headdresses made from feathers, jewels, florals, and handmade objects. Her style represents the fun and extraordinary occasions by which the wearer showcases them. Every original piece of wearable art is made only once and customized to the occasion.
Growing up in Galveston and raising her 3 children there, Mardi Gras has been of particular interest to the entire family. Megan takes inspiration from the glamorous costuming of Vaudeville, Old Hollywood, and of course, the flamboyance of Carnaval. Galveston hosts the 3rd largest Mardi Gras in the United states!
The island gave her exposure to art from a young age through the public school art program. With a graduate degree in Art Education, she is currently a high school art teacher. Megan shares her creativity though her business, Hurricane Headdress, from her studio in the Sam Houston National Forest. Also, she loves teaching and interacting during workshops, primarily in the Houston and Galveston area.
This busy artist splits her time between the beach and the woods, where she lives with her husband and 6 dogs.
